Menorah and Mezuzah
"From the time of the Exodus from Egypt,
3,500 years ago,
Jews have marked their
doorposts with a symbolic sign. In ancient Egypt, that sign was
for purposes of protection. It alerted the Angel of Death to pass
over the Israelite dwellings. Ever since, it has been a reminder
of protection, as well as a reminder of liberation, history,
faith and Gods presence.
Yankel Ginzburg has sought to capture the essence of the
Mezuzah by making it an object of excitement as well as beauty.
By means of rich, luminescent colors and creative designs, he has
given the Mezuzah a
feeling of future, not
only past, a sense of energy as well as beauty. What was for many
merely a simple cylinder is transformed into a precious evocative
heirloom.
The purpose of the Mezuzah is to remind those who see it that this is a Jewish home, a mini sanctuary in which Gods presence can by found. Yankel Ginzburgs Mezuzot are noble reflections which add luster and a new dimension to the signs of Jewish destiny."
Rabbi Jeffrey A. Wohlberg
Ginzburg, dedicated to the heart and human
spirit, ingeniously created the "Star Mezuzah, King David
Mezuzah and Unto the Light Mezuzah", to blend his artistic
soul with the reverence of the almighty. This simple and elegant
object of Judaica, boldly reveals and protects the Hebrew
scriptures of the Shma; His vision - to show the beauty and
strength of the holy prayer*; the heart and soul of the Jewish
people.
