Lahaina Galleries is extremely proud to have recently teamed with artists Robert Lyn Nelson, Sienna Nelson and Environmentalist Jean-Michel Cousteau, to raise $20,000 for Mr. Cousteau’s “Ocean Futures Society.”
The event was held in the artists’ studio, while Lahaina Galleries' art collectors attended remotely via zoom from all over North America.
Mr. Cousteau sat opposite Robert Lyn Nelson as the two spoke candidly about each painting being presented. As a long-time collector of Nelson’s work and frequent collaborator in promoting environmental awareness, Cousteau provided additional insight and a unique perspective in appreciating the artwork.
Cousteau has worked tirelessly for environmental causes throughout the world and has produced over 100 environmental films. Cousteau’s non-profit organization, the “Ocean Futures Society” has as its mission the exploration of global oceans and sharing the critical connection between the quality of the ocean and the quality of human life.
Robert Lyn Nelson is known as a visionary artist and master of a vast range of styles and subject matters. He is credited with having started what is known as the Modern Marine Art genre with the creation of his famous “Two Worlds” paintings, which has had a profound effect in underwater awareness.
